Here are some important information about what you should bring upon arrival:
The currency of Norway is the Norwegian krone (NOK) (pl. kroner). Krone translates into English as “crown”. It is important that you bring enough mony to cover a deposit for your accomodation, food and the rent for the first month. It is estimated that 10 000 NOK will be enough to cover this. It may also be convenient to bring your credit card. In Norway the use of VISA & Mastercard is very common, you can’t buy an airplane ticket or do online shopping without one.
Travel equipment and clothing
If you want to participate in our summer program, we recommend you to bring warm and water resistant clothes and footwear. This is because our summer program includes a weekend in the mountains and a trip to the very north of Norway. A sleeping bag and a backpack is also a must for weekend trips! Clothes, footwear, sleeping bags and other travel equipment can be bought in Norway, but these are expensive goods.
Something from your country
Both members and trainees enjoy learning more about other coultures. We therefor often have weekly meeting where a trainee or a IAESTE member will cook some traditional food. Make sure you bring something either food, drink or other goods like a flag or something similar that represents your country! NB! Make shure that it is legal to bring into Norway! Have a look at customs before you come!
